New Things ✨
- To enhance user experience and prevent accidental or unintended app deletions, we've introduced a confirmation dialog when deleting apps in Shift. Now, when you attempt to remove an app, a prompt will appear, asking for your confirmation to proceed with the deletion. For those who prefer a streamlined process, we've also included a "Don't ask again" option, allowing you to bypass this confirmation in the future. This update ensures that app removals are deliberate and gives users more control over their Shift environment.
- We've introduced a new feature in Shift that automatically updates the theme across all webpages when you change it within Shift. This exciting enhancement streamlines the user experience, saving you the time and effort of manually adjusting the theme on each webpage. Now, with just one change in Shift, the theme consistency is maintained across your entire browsing session, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow.
- Introducing unread notification indicators for apps integrated into Shift. This feature aids users by clearly showing unread messages or notifications that require attention, thus enhancing your workflow efficiency.
Bugs Fixed 🐛🔨
- We identified an issue where Shift would crash if users were prompted to authenticate in a secondary window. This problem has been resolved. Now, when a secondary window opens for authentication, Shift will smoothly facilitate your sign-in process without any interruptions.
- We observed an issue where Shift was inadvertently blocking notification dialogs, preventing websites from requesting notification permissions. This has been addressed, and Shift now allows all notification dialogs to appear as intended. This update ensures that users have the option to enable notifications from their preferred websites, enhancing their overall browsing experience.
- We noticed unusual outlines on our tabs that detracted from their appearance. We've resolved this issue by removing the outlines and enhancing the tabs' aesthetics for a better user experience and design.
- We discovered an issue where opening a new tab caused all existing tabs to adopt the URL of the new tab, additionally preventing users from modifying the URLs in the previous tabs. Recognizing this as a significant inconvenience, we've implemented a fix. Now, opening a new tab does not alter the URL fields (Omnibox values) in other tabs, ensuring users can effortlessly switch between tabs without disruption.
- We identified an issue where pressing the Esc key failed to close specific drawer components in Shift. This has been resolved! Now, pressing the Esc key will promptly close drawer components such as the Quick Settings Drawers, enhancing usability and efficiency.
- We identified inconsistencies in the behavior of Shift when adding or removing apps and features while multiple Shift windows were open. This issue has been resolved. Now, any modifications made in one Shift window will automatically sync across all other open Shift windows, ensuring a uniform Shift setup throughout.
Other Notable Updates 👀
- We've revised the naming convention for the Display Name field when adding or editing an app in Shift. Previously labeled as "Account Name," we realized this terminology did not accurately reflect the input we were requesting from the user so we decided to update it to Display Name.
- We've updated a few design flaws on our security page. These improvements not only make the page more visually appealing but also contribute to a more cohesive and intuitive experience within the app.
