New Things ✨
- We’ve added a dropdown when you click on the extensions icon, that reveals the options to add additional extensions or manage your current ones. Managing your current extensions will open the extensions tab, where more functionality is available.
- Shift now supports a web browsing experience in Integrated Apps. Web pages added to an Integrated App will show a security badge, they can also be downloaded from and interacted with (open a new tab from a link within the webpage). However, the URL is read-only, you can copy it but not enter a new search.
Bugs Fixed 🐛🔨
- We noticed that Shift was always opening into fullscreen, regardless of the size of screen it was when closed. We realize that you want to pick up where you left off, so we’ve fixed this. Now Shift will open to the same size it was closed in.
- We realized that when adding extensions to Shift, the download button read ‘Add to Chrome’. This seemed confusing, so we’ve changed this to read ‘Add to Shift’ so that you know where your extension will appear, in your Shift browser.
- We noticed that notifications were showing the Chrome icon, not the Shift icon. We’ve fixed this to avoid any confusion about where the notification is coming from!
- We identified that when Ctrl+clicking on a bookmark it was opening it in the same tab, when it should be opening a new tab. We’ve updated this behaviour so that Ctrl+clicking on a bookmark will open a new tab.
- We realized that another keyboard shortcut was not working as expected. We’ve updated the Ctrl+d shortcut as well so that it saves the webpage you’re currently on as a bookmark.
- We noticed that there was some unexpected behaviour when setting your Shift browser to Dark or Light mode, with the appearance fluctuating between the two due to some issues with how the system was reading your set preference. We’ve updated this so that the preference you set will persist on Shift.
- We realized that search queries in the omnibox that were not a full URL were not persisting in the omnibox when navigating away from that tab. We’ve fixed this behaviour so it acts as expected, retaining the search query despite navigation away from that tab.
- We noticed an issue that was causing Shift to crash when moved to a secondary monitor. We’ve fixed this, so now Shift will show on a secondary monitor as expected and will not crash.
