New Things ✨
- You can now remove misspelled URLs or other history-related suggestions from your search suggestions by hovering over the suggestion and clicking the ‘X’ that appears, or by using a keyboard shortcut (Mac: Shift + FN + Delete, Windows: Shift + Delete).
- To make historical searches more apparent in the search suggestion dropdown, we’ve updated the icon to show new search suggestions with a magnifying glass, and historical search suggestions with a clock icon. These icons will appear to the left-hand side of the suggestion’s name and should provide a helpful visual distinction between new search suggestions and historical ones.
- We realized that having our Light, Dark, and Auto modes labeled as ‘Themes’ was a little confusing since themes are often associated with colour and design settings. We’ve renamed the Light, Dark, and Auto mode settings as ‘Appearance’ to make sure users can easily locate the setting and to leave room to label future customization opportunities within Shift as themes.
- We’ve made some updates to ensure that using the History function in Quick Settings allows you to click on a history item and have it open as a new tab.
Bugs Fixed 🐛🔨
- We noticed that http sites were being labeled as secure when only https sites should be labeled with the secure badge. We’ve fixed this to ensure that you’ve got all the information you need to make choices about the sites you visit and their security.
- We realized that the Print button from Quick Settings was crashing the browser. This has been resolved, so now you can successfully print from Quick Settings.
- We realized that clicking into Advanced Settings from the Quick Settings slider was causing Shift to crash. This has been fixed, so now you can successfully access Advanced Settings from the Quick Settings panel.
- Unfortunately, Shift was throwing an error when going through the uninstall process, making it challenging or impossible to complete the uninstallation. We’ve fixed this, so that now Shift can be successfully uninstalled with no blockers, crashing, or errors.
- We realized that the Find in Page dialog wasn’t showing you how many matches it finds or where you are when toggling between matches. We’ve added a counter now and confirmed that it will show you at the correct spot in the count as you toggle through.
