How to download a file in Shift

Need to download a file in Shift? Follow these easy steps to get started!

Steps to Download a File

  1. Open Shift on your computer.
  2. Go to the website where the file is located.
  3. Save the file:
    • Most files:
      • Click the download link.
      • Or, right-click on the file and choose "Save as".
    • Images:
      • Right-click on the image
      • Select "Save Image As".
    • Videos:
      • Download Button: Some websites have a "Download Video" button. Click this to download the video.
      • Right-Click Option: You might also be able to right-click on the video and select "Save As".
      • No Download Option: If you don't see these options, the video's owner or the website may have disabled downloads.
    • PDFs:
      • Right-click on the file.
      • Choose “Save Link As”.
  1. Choose the Save Location.  If asked, select where you want to save the file on your computer, then click “Save”.

After Downloading

  • A Download tray will open, showing the file's download progress. Once done, the progress bar will disappear.
  • To open your file, click on the downloaded file or choose “Open new”.

Additional Tips:

  • To see where your downloaded file is saved, click the folder icon next to the file.
  • To find recent downloads, click the downloads icon located to the right of the search box.
  • To view all downloaded files:
    • Click the downloads icon and select “Show all downloads”.
    • Alternatively, go to “Quick Settings” and choose “Downloads”.
  • To remove downloaded files, go to "All Downloads" and click the X located to the right of the file.
