Shift 122.2.0 | Released 2024-05-30

Bugs Fixed 🐛🔨

  • We found a very specific scenario in which Shift was freezing. If you typed Chrome://settings/reset into the omnibox search it would result in a freeze on the settings page. If a user used the reset button, however, there were no issues. We’ve fixed the freezing when using the omnibox.
  • We noticed that the omnibox was clearing out text when searching for a direct URL (i.e. not selecting from the suggested searches). Once the page loaded, the omnibox would clear the URL of the page you were currently on. We’ve fixed this so that the omnibox shows the URL of the page you are on after completing a direct search.
  • Refreshing a page on certain websites was leading to Shift crashing. We looked into what could be causing this behaviour on certain sites and were able to identify the conflict. Our team has implemented a fix to ensure refreshing on any site won’t result in a crash.
  • Similar to the above, there were also certain websites that were crashing Shift upon load, either when searched via the omnibox or opened through a link. We’ve identified the problem and implemented a fix in this release!
  • Some of the Shift branding was missing in Shift’s UI, specifically when hovering over an app, and in the naming of some files. We have now fixed this issue, ensuring clear and consistent branding across the UI and files, eliminating any potential confusion.
  • Some options available in context menus and settings are not currently functional in Shift, such as the ‘show apps shortcut’ option in the Bookmark context menu and a few options, like ‘theme’,  in the Appearance settings. We’ve removed these for now to avoid any confusion or frustration.
