New Things ✨

  • Tab Hover Previews: See Title and Website at a Glance: Hovering over a tab now displays a preview with the tab's title and website, helping prevent miss-clicks and improving navigation efficiency.
  • "Move Tab to New Window" Option Added: Users can now right-click a tab and select "Move Tab to New Window" for seamless tab management. If the tab is the only one in the current window, the option will be grayed out.
  • Upgraded to a New Chromium Version for a Smoother Experience: Shift now runs on Chromium M132, bringing performance improvements, security updates, and better stability.

  • "Open in New Tab Group" No Longer Appears for Unsupported Bookmark Folders: This option will no longer appear in right-click menus where it isn’t supported.
  • Nested Bookmark Menus Now Open in the Correct Direction: Subfolders now expand to the right of the parent folder instead of the left.
  • Links from Apps Now Open Properly: Clicking a link within an app now correctly opens the page in the app or home tab strip instead of a blank tab.
  • Last Active Tab Now Highlights Correctly on Startup: When using "Continue from where you left off," the last accessed tab is now properly highlighted.
  • Startup URLs Now Open Correctly: Tabs set in Advanced Settings > On Startup will now open as expected.
  • Startup URLs Now Display the Correct Web Address: Tabs that open on startup now display the correct website URL instead of a placeholder.
  • Home Tab Now Activates When Removing an App: If an app is removed while its tab strip is active, Shift will now automatically activate the Home tab.
  • Fixed Overlapping Titles in Advanced Settings: Scrolling no longer causes page content to overlap with fixed titles when Shift is resized.
  • Advanced Settings Header Now Matches Sidebar Color: The header now correctly matches the sidebar background instead of blending with the main content area.
  • Back and Forward Mouse Buttons Now Work: Users with a five-button mouse can now navigate back and forward using the dedicated buttons.
  • Right-Click "Open in New Tab/Window" Now Works in the Knowledge Base Panel: Support links can now be opened in a new tab, window, or incognito window as expected.
  • Save Password Dialog Now Stays Attached to the Shift Window: The Save Password prompt now moves with the Shift window instead of detaching.
  • Omnibox Now Displays Typed Text Immediately on New Tab Page: Typed text no longer disappears until the New Tab Page (NTP) finishes loading.

  • Fixed Crash When Displaying FedCM Dialog: Shift no longer crashes when rendering the Federated Credential Management (FedCM) dialog.
  • All Tabs Now Restore Properly After a Crash: Previously open tabs now fully restore every time after a forced shutdown.
  • No More Duplicate Desktop Shortcuts After Updates: Updating Shift no longer creates a second desktop shortcut.
  • "Learn More" Link Now Points to the Correct Shift Support Page: The "Learn More" link for update failures now directs users to a Shift-specific help page instead of a Chrome resource.
