Step 1: Navigate to the People Search App

  1. Launch Shift on your computer.

  2. Locate and click the People Search icon on your sidebar layout to open the integrated database dashboard.

Note: If you do not see the People Search icon inside your current layout, you can quickly integrate it into your workspace by following our guide: How to Add an App in Shift.

Supported Search Engines and Core Specializations

The People Search app houses multiple independent lookup platforms. Select your preferred database from the app sidebar based on the details you currently possess:

  • Whitepages: Optimized for searches by name, city, state, or zip code. Includes native reverse phone lookup and reverse address tracking. (Note: Full background reports require external payment.)

  • Spokeo: Highly effective for checking names, phone numbers, street addresses, or individual email handles. (Note: Full profiles require external payment.)

  • BeenVerified: Comprehensive lookup engine processing names, reverse phone strings, emails, physical addresses, and registered vehicles. (Note: Requires an email address to deliver your completed results log.)

  • Intelius: Specialized for geographical regional lookups using a person's first name, last name, city, and state.

  • TruthFinder: Focuses on regional identity verification filterable by first name, last name, and state.

  • PeopleFinders: Traditional database querying first name, last name, city, and state metrics. (Note: Comprehensive dossiers require external payment.)

  • PeekYou: Tailored for scanning social identity markers using a person's first name, last name, and state.

  • FastPeopleSearch: A quick-access tool optimized for browsing public directories and names in structured alphabetical order.

  • Pipl: An enterprise-focused profile mapping engine. (Note: Requires an existing active platform login to initiate searches.)

Step-by-Step Usage Instructions

1. Initiate Your Search

  1. Select your target lookup platform from the application's left-hand sidebar menu.

  2. Locate the main search input bar at the top of the interface screen.

  3. Type in the required demographic data requested by that specific platform (e.g., name, cell phone number, or email address).

  4. Press Enter on your keyboard to compile an indexed list of matching public registry profiles.

2. View Individual Details

Click on any individual's name or record profile within the populated search results to pull up their available dossier metadata, which can include:

  • Verified email addresses and primary phone contact histories.

  • Current and historical physical residential or corporate addresses.

  • Associated public social media profile links.

  • Public civil background checks or records (available on select platforms).

Troubleshooting Search Anomalies

If your initial database query fails to generate a matching profile, apply these adjustment steps:

  • Check Your Syntax: Review your search entries for simple typographical errors or misspelled names.

  • Pivot Input Criteria: If a name search is too broad, attempt to locate the contact using their phone number or past email address instead.

  • Switch Search Providers: Move to a different platform in your app sidebar. Different search networks index separate public registries, and an individual missing on one engine may appear on another.

  • Verify Tier Access: Keep in mind that while basic search index results are free to browse, viewing a comprehensive background profile often requires an external subscription or one-time payment directly to that specific provider.
