Shift helps you browse more securely by alerting you when it detects a site that may be unsafe to visit. When a site may be unsafe, Shift changes the security info icon .
You can find information about the security of the site you’re on by checking the security info icon or by clicking on the site information icon
. Keep reading for detailed steps on both.
Check security information icon
- On your computer, open Shift.
- Open a web page.
- To check a site's security, check the security info symbol:
- Default (Secure)
- Not secure or Dangerous
- Default (Secure)
- Clicking on the icon will show either a secure or not secure status.
Check site information
- On your computer, open Shift.
- Open a web page.
- To check a site's security, click on the site information symbol
- Clicking on the icon will show a summary of the site's privacy, cookies and site data, site settings, and information about the page.
Tips:
- If you want Shift to ask you before you use an unsecured connection, turn on ‘Always use secure connections’. You can find this in Advanced Settings, on the Privacy & Security page, under the ‘Security’ section.
- When ‘Always use secure connections’ is on, if a site doesn't support HTTPS, Shift displays a "Connection is not secure" warning.
