Safe Browsing in Shift Browser helps protect you from malware, phishing, and unsafe downloads. It checks websites and downloads against known threats and displays a warning if a potential risk is detected.
How Safe Browsing works
When you visit a website or download a file, Shift Browser checks for known security threats. If a site or download appears unsafe, you'll receive a warning before continuing.
Safe Browsing protection levels
Shift Browser includes the following Safe Browsing options:
- Standard protection (default): Warns you about dangerous websites, downloads, and extensions. This is the recommended setting for most users.
- No protection: Turns off Safe Browsing warnings. This setting is not recommended because you won't receive alerts about potentially unsafe websites or downloads.
If you receive a warning, you can decide whether to continue or leave the page.
About Standard protection
Standard protection helps detect known malicious websites, phishing attempts, unsafe downloads, and harmful browser extensions. When a potential threat is detected, Shift Browser displays a warning before you continue, helping you decide whether to proceed.
Standard protection is enabled by default and is recommended for most users.
Change your Safe Browsing level
- Open Shift Browser.
- Click the Quick Settings gear icon

- Select Advanced settings.
- In the left sidebar, select Privacy and security.
- Select Security.
- Choose your preferred Safe Browsing protection level.
- Your changes take effect immediately.
