Shift for Teams offers all the powerful layout personalization of our individual premium plans, combined with centralized administrative tools to help organizations seamlessly scale their productivity workflows.
Team Roles and Permissions
Every Shift for Teams organization operates on a distinct role structure to manage licenses and billing:
The Team Administrator
The Admin role is automatically assigned to the individual who first establishes the team workspace by purchasing corporate licenses. The Admin serves as the organization's primary point of contact for all billing, invoicing, and plan changes.
Capabilities: Accesses the centralized Team Dashboard, purchases additional seat licenses, and assigns or revokes active licenses to team members as personnel needs change.
Team Members
When an Admin invites an employee to join the organization via the Team Dashboard, the employee receives an automated email invitation.
Capabilities: Upon accepting the invite, the user instantly unlocks full premium functionality, allowing them to connect unlimited email accounts, integrate web apps, and install Chrome extensions.
Limitations: Members do not have access to the billing dashboard, cannot purchase additional seat licenses, and cannot view or manage other members within the organization.
Core Structural Rules
To maintain absolute data integrity and user privacy across your organization, Shift enforces these core parameters:
Single Administrator Limit: There can only be one Admin assigned per team workspace.
Individual Workspace Control: Each individual team member maintains absolute control over their custom Shift interface, notifications, and tab structures.
Absolute Privacy Boundaries: The Admin cannot view, access, or control the specific email accounts, private passwords, browsing histories, or web applications that team members add to their personal Shift setups.

Unified Billing
A Shift for Teams subscription consolidates all your team members under a single subscription and billing cycle. No more having to share the corporate credit card, approve expenses, or reimburse your team members for their subscriptions. Anytime additional licenses are purchased throughout the year, they'll be prorated to the team's annual renewal date. For more information on this, read our Shift for Teams pricing & subscription article. The annual renewal date is based on the date the Admin's subscription was first created (i.e., the date that the Admin first purchased their own subscription). Anytime an Admin purchases additional licenses, or the team's subscription renews, the Admin receives an invoice. Whatever card is on file will be the one that's charged. The Admin can check the Team's renewal date anytime by heading into the Billing section. Check out this article to learn how to find your renewal date.
Team Dashboard
The Team Dashboard can be used to manage your team members quickly and easily. The Admin can purchase additional licenses, as well as assign and unassign purchased licenses to team members as needed. To access the team dashboard:
- Go to the Shift Account Portal (Admin only).
- Log in with your Default Shift Account.
- Click Teams on the left side panel.
- Add and remove members and purchase additional licenses as needed.
