  • Updated

✨ New Things

  • Chromium update (v135) — Updated to Chromium v135 for improved security, performance, and compatibility.

  • Download “Keep” option — You can now choose to keep a file flagged as suspicious or dangerous, giving you more control over downloads.

🐛 Bugs Fixed

Performance & Stability

  • Startup & launch — Shift and startup pages now open significantly faster.

  • Settings & panels — Settings, Extensions, History, Downloads, and Bookmarks panels now load quickly instead of stalling.

  • New tab performance — Opening multiple new tabs is smoother and no longer freezes the browser.

  • Bookmarks performance — Large bookmark collections now load without lag.

  • Stability improvements — Fixed rare crashes when opening/closing windows and when closing tabs with “Leave site?” dialogs.

Tabs & Windows

  • Resize & move — Fixed window resizing from the bottom-right corner and restored the ability to drag non-maximized windows.

  • Single-tab windows — Closing the last tab now closes the empty window automatically.

  • Tab dragging improvements

    • Tabs can now be dragged across windows, including between monitors, with smooth previews even on high-DPI displays.

    • Tabs can be dropped anywhere on the tab strip, not just near the “+” button.

    • Dragging a tab straight upward now correctly creates a new window.

    • Dragging a detached tab back into a window now works as expected.

    • The stop icon no longer appears when dragging tabs within a window.

Bookmarks

  • Bookmark actions — Right-click → “Open in New Tab” now works correctly.

  • Bookmarks bar toggle — Toggling the bar no longer triggers duplicate events, and the setting now saves between sessions.

  • Context menu cleanup — Removed unrelated “Show Tab Groups” option from the bookmarks menu.

Omnibox & Navigation

  • Focus & select-all — Clicking the Omnibox now consistently focuses and highlights the entire URL.

  • Search suggestions — Autocomplete suggestions now match what you type, without cutting off the last letter.

  • Dropdown behavior — Past search suggestions now only appear while typing, not persistently.

  • Navigation buttons — Back/Forward buttons now activate correctly while navigating within a tab.

Passwords

  • Import — Passwords now import correctly on first install, including those with new Chromium encryption.

  • UI consistency — “Close Password Manager” button color remains correct after importing.

  • Autofill icon — Saved login pop-ups now display the Shift icon instead of Chrome’s.

Extensions

  • Badges — Extensions like AdBlock, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, and AdGuard now display notification numbers.

  • AdBlock — “More pause options” and “Hide something on this page” links now work as in Chrome.

  • Grammarly — Works correctly in apps like Google Docs, Gmail, and Outlook.

  • HubSpot — Works inside Gmail apps in Shift, not just in standalone tabs.

  • Extension icons — Newly installed extensions now appear immediately without requiring login.

Downloads & Security

  • Blocked files — The Downloads panel now clearly shows when a dangerous file is blocked, instead of appearing stuck.

  • Settings cleanup — Outdated/unsupported options (like Google’s password breach warning) have been removed from Privacy & Security.

Misc Fixes

  • Notification badges — The “Show Shift Notification Badge” toggle now saves correctly.

  • Home tab — Unlocking your computer after install now correctly returns you to your home tab.

👀 Other Notable Updates

  • Tab closing — Close "X" button now has a larger click target and better spacing.

  • App icons — Monochrome app icons now adapt to theme colors for consistency.

  • Advanced Settings — Full-page panels redesigned with rounded corners, aligned search & close buttons, and draggable top bars.

  • Help links — All links in Advanced Settings now point to Shift support articles.

  • Windows startup control — Disable Shift at startup directly via Windows Startup Apps.

  • Keyboard shortcut — Quick Settings can now be opened with Ctrl + , (Windows) or Command + , (Mac).

  • Forms — Added a smaller FieldMessage variant for better layout in forms like Add App.
