✨ New Things
- Space Avatars — You can now upload your own image as a Space Avatar when creating or editing a space. Images can be changed or removed, and they’ll sync across devices when Sync is enabled, giving you more ways to personalize your workspace.
- Onboarding (Chrome on Windows) — If you import data from Chrome during onboarding, you’ll now see a helpful guide on how to manually import your passwords, since Chrome doesn’t allow automatic password transfers.
🐛 Bugs Fixed
- Tab rearranging — Fixed an issue where tabs would snap back to their original positions when dragged. Tabs now rearrange smoothly by dragging on the tab bar, making it easier to organize your workspace.
- Tabs (Context Menu) — Fixed an issue where right-clicking a background tab would also activate it. The tab now stays in the background when you open the context menu, matching expected browser behavior.
- Google Meet — Fixed an issue where the meeting tab could crash if you clicked away to another tab and then returned. Meetings now remain stable when multitasking in Shift.
- Omnibox — Fixed an issue where clicking away from Shift and then returning would cause the address bar to lose focus. The omnibox now stays focused when you return, so you can keep typing without interruption.
- Add Space flyout — Fixed an issue where the Add Space dialogue would stay open. Clicking elsewhere in the window (like the main view or bookmarks bar) now closes it as expected.
- Reset Settings — Fixed an issue where restoring settings to their original defaults did not reset System settings (like run in background or open on login). These now reset correctly, so your full browser configuration is restored as expected.
- Space Avatars (Anchor Apps) — Fixed an issue where editing a Space would remove the avatar extracted from its anchor app (like Gmail). Avatars now stay in place unless you choose to change them.
- Anchor Apps — Fixed an issue where once an app was set as an Anchor App in a Space, there was no way to unset it. You can now remove an app’s anchor status without deleting it from the Space.
- Extensions (Scribe) — Fixed an issue where clicking the Scribe extension would crash Shift. The extension now opens and works as expected.
- Shortcuts — Fixed an issue where creating a shortcut placed a generic Chromium icon instead of the Shift icon. Shortcuts now display the correct Shift branding.
- Stability (Windows System Info) — Fixed a crash that could occur when Shift detected removable storage devices (like SD card slots or empty drives). Shift now starts reliably without crashing on systems with these interfaces.
- Stability (Sign-in & Subscriptions) — Fixed a crash that could occur during account sign-in or subscription checks. These flows now run reliably without unexpected closures.
👀 Other Notable Updates
- Onboarding (Add Apps) — Skipping the Add Apps step now feels smoother, as apps are cleared all at once instead of one by one.
- Customize Layout — Apps added via Customize Layout now keep their order when restarting Shift or syncing to another device.
- Bookmarks (Vertical Bar) — Tooltips now appear on hover for bookmarks and folders in the vertical bookmarks bar, so you can easily identify them.
- Downloads — The downloads pop-up no longer grows larger than the window. It now stays within view and scrolls when needed.
- Extensions (Pinning) — Improved visibility of the pin icon in dark themes, making it easier to pin and manage extensions.
- Settings UI Polish — Fixed inconsistent highlight states and clickable areas in Advanced Settings, including Accounts & Preferences, Performance, and Startup options. Highlights and buttons now look and behave consistently.
- Sync (Multi-Monitor) — Logging into Sync on an extended monitor no longer forces Shift back to the primary screen. The window now stays where you left it.
