New Things
- Add your own custom apps: You can now add Custom Apps directly from the Apps Directory using the new Add Custom App button, making it easier to bring your own tools into Shift.
Notable Updates
- Open links directly in your default browser: When “Open links in another browser” is enabled, you can now right-click a link and choose Open link in Default Browser, opening the correct page and switching focus straight to the new tab.
- Avoid duplicate Space names: When creating or editing a Space, you’ll now see real-time validation if a name is already in use, making it easier to keep Spaces clearly labeled and unique.
- Scroll pages while extension modals are open: You can now keep scrolling and interacting with a webpage even when an extension modal is open, matching the behavior you’d expect from Chrome.
Bugs Fixed
- Reset Browser now fully clears your data on Windows: Using Reset Browser will now properly sign you out and clear local data instead of simply restarting Shift.
- View your full browsing history: Browsing history now displays correctly, ensuring older entries are fully visible instead of being cut off.
- More predictable window behavior: New Shift windows opened from desktop shortcuts now appear in front of your current window, making them easier to find.
- Fewer unexpected popovers on launch: Shift will no longer automatically open the Recent Downloads popover when restarting, so you can get straight back to what you were working on.
- Reopen closed tabs in the right Space: Using Reopen closed tab now restores tabs to the correct Space and in the order they were closed, instead of opening them in a different Space.
- Prevent accidental bookmark reordering: Bookmarks will no longer jump to the end of the bookmarks bar when slightly dragged, making it easier to keep your layout intact.
- Keep downloads ordered by recency: The Downloads dropdown now stays in correct chronological order, so your most recent downloads always appear at the top.
- Reorder Spaces and apps in Grid layouts: Drag-and-drop reordering now works correctly, making it easier to organize your grid the way you want.
- Restore your tabs when reopening Shift on macOS: With Continue where you left off enabled, reopening Shift will now correctly bring back your previous tabs even if the app wasn’t fully quit.
