Shift 147.2.2 | Released 2026-10-20

Notable Updates

  • Shift Data Import and Export: You can now back up and restore your Shift configuration directly from the browser. This new tool in Quick Settings allows you to export your Spaces, Apps, and Layouts to a file, making it easier to move your setup between devices or save a backup of your workspace.
  • Export Debug Logs: A new troubleshooting tool is now available to help resolve technical issues faster. You can generate a diagnostic zip file containing recent logs via Quick Settings or by using the Shift + Option + Command + L (macOS) or Ctrl + Shift + Alt + L (Windows) shortcut.
  • Improved App Directory Readability: App names in the Apps Directory now wrap to two lines, ensuring that apps with longer names—like Microsoft Viva Goals or Google Calendar—are no longer cut off and are easier to identify.

Bug Fixes

  • Spaces & Apps
    • Sidebar Overflow: Fixed a regression where the Spaces bar would stop showing the overflow menu (>> icon) when the number of Spaces exceeded the window height, which made some Spaces inaccessible.
    • Regional App Selection: Restored the "Selected URL" dropdown in the Add/Edit App forms, allowing you to once again choose specific regional domains for apps like Amazon, Yahoo, and eBay.
    • Creative Sidebar Overflow: Resolved an issue in the Creative template where apps would only move to the overflow menu after being manually dragged; they now overflow automatically as soon as they exceed the available space.
    • Space Avatar Sync: Fixed a bug where using large images or anchor-app photos as Space avatars would exceed sync limits and fail to appear on other devices.
  • Stability & Performance
    • Search Engine Crash: Fixed a crash on macOS that occurred when changing the default search engine while certain New Tab Pages were active.
    • Sync Reliability: Improved the way Shift handles data synchronization to ensure that one oversized item (such as an extremely long Space name) no longer prevents the rest of your workspace data from syncing.
    • Account Re-authentication: Resolved an issue where the account sign-in window would fail to render the login page, showing a broken image icon instead of the re-authentication prompt.
  • Interface & Layout
    • Duplicate Browser Chrome: Fixed a bug where importing Shift data could cause the sidebar and top bars to stack or duplicate after reopening the window.
    • Sidebar Visual Refinements: Corrected the styling of the selection ring in the expanded app grid and fixed a visual bug where pinned extension rows appeared "selected" by default on certain sidebar backgrounds.
