WHM + cPanel login does not work with Shift: Error 500

I tested this across multiple Chromium-based browsers, and the issue only occurs in Shift Browser (MacOS Tahoe)

Here’s what happens:

  • I log in to my WHM panel → go to “List Accounts” → open an account.
  • In other browsers, this correctly redirects me to cPanel.
  • In Shift Browser, it does not redirect. Instead, I get a 500 Internal Server Error.

In some cases, I also receive:

  • HTTP Error 401 – Invalid Security Token

I’ve already tried disabling all extensions and testing in incognito mode, but the issue still persists.

    Hi Jonas,

To fully investigate what might be going on here, I have a few questions for you:

    1. Were you trying to access this in your main/default Shift Space? Or a secondary space?
    2. Would you be able to share which WHM portal you're using?

Once we know this we can try and replicate the issue.

If you're not comfortable sharing this information in the Community thread here, just respond back letting me know and I'll create a private ticket in our Support queue to address these questions.

    Hi,
    1) I tested on my main workspace and another space, and also tried incognito mode. I attempted to access it from a different computer using Shift, but nothing worked.

    2) My web host (Verpex) shows the setup as: cPanel & WHM v134.0.23 (STANDARD).

    3) It also appears Shift has an issue with iFrames that open separate popups. For example, a site with an embedded booking form lets me fill in the fields, but when it tries to redirect to the payment form on another domain, it fails in Shift. The redirect works in other browsers.

After consultation with my Dev team, I've submitted a bug ticket for this for in depth investigation.

I apologize I don't have a resolution at this time, but will respond back here once we have a fix.

Our Dev team is trying to look into this issue, however we haven't been able to reproduce it yet on our end, which makes a fix very difficult to find.

Could you share the Shift version # that this issue occurs on?
You can find it by going to Quick Settings > Advanced Settings > About Shift Browser.

Here’s a short video showing what happens when I try to log in to cPanel using Shift. This issue doesn’t occur in any other browser I’ve tested. https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZUStU5ZB257aX72oD7zUii1LC8GcfF1B92y
