You can make Shift Browser your default browser from Quick Settings or through your Windows or macOS system settings. Once Shift is your default browser, links you open from other apps will open in Shift.
Set Shift Browser as your default using Quick Settings
- Open Shift.
- Click the gear icon to open Quick Settings.
- Scroll to Set as Default browser.
- Click Make default.
- Follow the prompts in your computer's settings.
Set Shift Browser as your default on Windows
- Open Shift.
- Open Quick Settings.
- Select Advanced settings.
- Choose Default browser.
- Click Make default.
- Follow the prompts in Windows.
Note: On Windows 11, Shift opens the correct Default apps page automatically, so you don't need to search for Shift.
Set Shift Browser as your default on Mac
- Open Shift.
- From the menu bar, select Shift > Settings.
- Select General.
- Find Default browser.
- Click Make default.
- Follow the prompts in macOS.

Tip: If Shift isn't your default browser, you'll see a Set as Default browser option in Quick Settings. Select it and follow the prompts.
