Recipe App: Why can’t I find a specific recipe when I search?

  • Updated

You can find quick culinary inspiration using the Recipe App in Shift Browser. This Shift-built app lives in your setup and pulls from a curated collection of top-rated dishes. Use this guide to understand how the search works and how to find even more recipes across the web.

How the Recipe App works in Shift Browser

The Recipe App is a specialized app that integrates directly into your Shift setup like any other app. It uses a focused database to help you find high-quality meals without the clutter of a standard search engine. Because this database is curated, the search function looks through a selected list of recipes rather than the entire internet.

Find a specific recipe

If you're looking for a very niche or specific dish that doesn't appear in the app, it's likely not in our current curated list. We're always growing our database. We'll post updates right here as we add more sources and expand the app to search more of the web.

Use Shift Browser for a wider search

If you can't find what you need inside the app, you can still use Shift to find any recipe online.

  1. Click on your Omnibox (the search bar at the top of Shift).

  2. Type in the name of the dish you're looking for.

  3. Press Enter to see results from across the whole web.

This allows you to keep your curated favorites in the Recipe App while using the full power of Shift for everything else.
