Searching in Shift and Using the Home Button

  • Updated

Searching for information in Shift is designed to feel familiar, secure, and fast. Because Shift is Chromium-based—built on the same reliable open-source framework as Google Chrome—your search habits, extensions, and standard navigation workflows will carry over seamlessly.

How to Search in Shift

Shift allows you to search using your preferred search engine. You can customize your default search engine provider at any time within your browser settings.

  1. Open Shift and click into the search bar at the top of the browser window (also known as the omnibox).

  2. Type your search terms, keywords, or a direct website URL.

  3. Press Enter on your keyboard to run the search.

Using the Home Button

The Home button provides a one-click shortcut to reset your view or jump back to your primary workspace starting point.

  1. Locate and click the Home button (the house icon situated to the left of the top address bar).

  2. By default, this action brings you directly back to your New Tab Page, which serves as your central hub for starting web searches, launching integrated apps, opening fresh tabs, and accessing your settings panel.

Note: You can customize your designated Home button URL at any time by navigating to your browser settings menu.
