Do you want to make the most out of Shift and keep your tabs organized? Here’s an easy guide to help you manage your tabs and work efficiently.
Opening a New Tab
- Quick Method: Click the "+" New Tab icon located next to the last tab in your Shift window.

Keyboard shortcut:
- Windows: Press Ctrl + T to open a new tab instantly.
Opening a Link in a New Tab
- Windows: Hold Ctrl and click on any link. This opens the link in a new tab without closing your current tab.
Opening a Tab in a New Window
- Manual Method:

- Open Quick Settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right of Shift
- Find the Tabs section
- Select New Window

Keyboard shortcut:
- Windows: Press Ctrl + N to open a tab in a new Shift Window.
Closing a Tab
- Manual Method: Click the "X" button located to the right of the tab you want to close.

Keyboard shortcut:
- Windows: Press Ctrl + W to close the current tab you are using.
Restoring a Recently Closed Tab

Keyboard shortcut:
- Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + T to restore (open back up) recently closed tabs.
Move Tab to New Window
You can now right-click a tab and select "Move Tab to New Window" for seamless tab management.
- If the tab is the only one in the current window, the option will be grayed out.
Closing a Window
Before closing a window in Shift, make sure all tabs are closed:
- Manual close: Click the "X" button at the top corner of your Shift window.
Tab Hover Previews
Hovering over a tab now displays a preview with the tab’s title and website, helping prevent misclicks and improving navigation efficiency.
