How to Change Your Search Engine

If you want to customize your default browsing experience, you can quickly change the core search engine utilized by Shift's primary address bar. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to update your preferences.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Locate and click the gear icon in the top-right corner of Shift to open the Quick Settings drawer.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the drawer panel and click the Advanced Settings button.

  3. From the category menu located on the left-hand sidebar, select Search Engine.

  4. Locate your current search provider layout and click the Change button situated directly beside it.

  5. Select your preferred search engine from the available default provider list:

    • Google

    • Bing

    • Yahoo!

    • StartPage

  6. Click Set as Default to commit your changes.

Once saved, any terms or queries typed directly into your global top address bar will automatically process through your newly selected search framework. You can repeat these steps at any time to switch providers or reset your default preferences.
