Managing your Sync

  • Updated

Your Shift account works across unlimited supported devices (Mac and Windows desktops) at no extra cost. When Sync is on, your core setup—including Spaces and apps—travels with you.

Shift also syncs your apps, bookmarks, search history, Space settings, and tab history automatically. Open tabs won’t reappear on a new device, but you can quickly get to them through your history.

Turning on Sync

  1. Open Quick Settings by clicking the gear icon Quick Settings.svg

  2. Click Advanced settings at the bottom.

  3. Select Accounts and preferences from the sidebar.

  4. Beside Sync Shift, click Turn on Sync.

  5. Sign in with your Shift account.

Note: If you’re coming from version 9 and have a paid subscription, sign in with your primary email so Shift can align with your existing plan.

Once enabled, Sync will reflect your setup across all signed-in devices.

How to manage Sync

You can sync everything or pick and choose:

  1. Open Quick Settings.

  2. Go to Advanced settings > Accounts and preferences.

  3. Under Sync Shift, select one of the following:

    • Sync everything

    • Customize Sync: Toggle specific data types on or off (apps, bookmarks, history, etc.).

How to turn off Sync

If you prefer not to use Sync:

  1. Follow the same steps above.

  2. Click Turn off Sync.

Turning off Sync stops data from updating on that device, but it does not log you out of your account.

Sync keeps your Spaces, apps, and preferences consistent everywhere you work. Start on one device, pick up on another, and stay in flow without missing a beat.
