You can import and export your saved passwords in Shift Browser to keep your login credentials organized and accessible. While some browsers require a manual CSV upload, Shift makes it easy to move your data so you can maintain your focus. Use the steps below to sync your passwords today.
Moving passwords to Shift Browser
Due to recent updates in Chromium, you'll now need to manually move passwords from Chrome into Shift. This ensures your data stays secure during the transition. You can do this by exporting a file from your old browser and uploading it directly into your Shift setup.
Method 1: Import from a supported browser
Shift can pull data directly from specific browsers if they're installed on your computer. Supported browsers include Edge, Firefox, Brave, and Vivaldi.
Click the gear icon
to open Quick Settings.
Click Advanced Settings.
Go to the Accounts and Preferences tab.
Click Advanced Settings next to "Import bookmarks and settings."
Select your browser from the dropdown menu.
Important: Close the other browser before you continue.
Once finished, manage your data in the Autofill and passwords section.
Method 2: Import using a CSV file
If your browser isn't on the list, you can use a CSV file. This is a two-step process that works for Chrome and most password managers.
Step 1: Export your passwords
Open Chrome and go to Settings.
Select Autofill and then Password Manager.
Click the three-dot menu next to Saved Passwords.
Click Export passwords and save the file to your computer.
Step 2: Upload to Shift Browser
Open your CSV file and ensure the column headers are: URL, Username, Password.
In Shift, click the gear icon
to open Quick Settings.
Scroll down and click Advanced Settings.
Go to the Autofill and passwords tab and select Password Manager.
Click Settings on the left side.
Find Import passwords and click Select file.
Choose your CSV and click Import.
Security Tip: Delete the CSV file from your computer once you're done.
Troubleshooting your import
If your passwords aren't appearing, check these two things:
Make sure the source browser (like Firefox or Edge) is completely closed during the import.
Check your CSV headers. If they say "Site" or "Login," change them to URL and Username so Shift can read them.
Exporting passwords from Shift Browser
If you ever need to move your data elsewhere, you can download your passwords in seconds.
Open Quick Settings and select Advanced Settings.
Go to Autofill and passwords and click Password Manager.
Click Settings on the left side.
Under Export passwords, click Download file.
Click the three-dot icon next to Saved Passwords and select Export passwords.
Please remember that exported files aren't encrypted. Store them in a safe place and delete them as soon as you're finished with the transfer.
