Step-by-Step: Uninstalling Shift on macOS
To completely remove Shift from your Mac, you must delete both the core application and its locally stored data folders.
Part 1: Remove the Application
Ensure Shift is fully closed and not running in your background doc.
Open Finder and navigate to your Applications folder.
Locate Shift, then drag the icon into your Trash (or right-click the icon and select Move to Trash).
Right-click on your Trash can icon on your desktop dock and select Empty Trash.
Part 2: Clear Local Data and Cache Files
To ensure a completely clean uninstallation (especially helpful if you are trying to resolve a persistent technical issue before reinstalling), remove your local profile data:
With Finder open, look at the top global Mac menu bar and click Go.
Hold down the Option (Alt) key on your keyboard. You will see the hidden Library folder appear in the dropdown list. Click it.
Inside your system Library folder, open the Application Support folder.
Locate the folder named ShiftData and move it to the Trash.
Empty your Trash can a final time.
Final Step
We highly recommend restarting your Mac after completing these steps to ensure all system caches are fully refreshed and all changes take effect.
