How to create your Shift Account

  • Updated

You can use Shift without creating an account, but having a Shift account unlocks additional functionality.

Creating an account allows you to:

  • Enable Sync to access your Spaces, apps, and settings across computers.
  • Manage your subscription and access premium features.
  • Receive faster support, since our team can easily locate your account if you ever need help.

Supported devices

Shift is currently supported on Mac and Windows operating systems (Windows 10 and above). Shift does not support Chrome OS, tablets, mobile devices, or devices in "tablet" mode.

Before you download, please keep in mind that we recommend having at least 8 GB of RAM on your computer for Shift to run smoothly (16 GB is ideal). You can download Shift directly from our website here: Download Shift.

How to create your Shift account

If you haven’t signed into the Shift Browser before, you’ll first go through the onboarding process. Once that’s complete, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Shift Browser.
  2. Click the gear icon Quick Settings.svg to open Quick Settings.
  3. Select Advanced Settings.
  4. Go to Accounts and Preferences.
  5. Choose “Sign in
  6. Select “Create an account

A pop-up to enable Sync will appear. Turning on Sync allows you to access your Spaces, apps, and settings across multiple computers. You don’t need to enable Sync to have a Shift account, but you do need a Shift account to enable Sync. Learn more about Sync in this article

Note: Creating an account through the Account Portal does create a Shift account in our system. Just make sure you are singing into Shift with the same account information.

During sign-up, you’ll be asked to accept our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and End User License Agreement. Once you’ve logged in, your Shift account is ready to go!

If you upgrade to a paid plan, your subscription will be tied to the email you used to create your Shift account (your Primary/Default Shift Account).
