You can easily manage desktop alerts and sounds in Shift Browser to stay on top of your work. Most notification issues are solved by checking your computer's system settings or adjusting preferences within the Shift sidebar. Use this guide to customize how and when you receive updates.
Check OS permissions for Shift Browser
Before you change settings in Shift, make sure your computer allows the browser to send alerts. If your computer blocks Shift, you won't see any pop-ups in your tray.
For Mac users*
Open your System Settings. On your computer (not in Shift).
Click Notifications.
Find Shift Browser in the list.
Ensure the Allow Notifications toggle is on.
Turn on the Badge application icon to see unread counts on the Shift icon.
*Note: This has resolved the issue of no notifications showing in the tray for Mac for several users and is worth trying as a starting step. Make sure the 'Allow Notification' setting is on with 'Badge application icon'.
For Windows users
Open Settings. On your computer (not in Shift).
Click System and then Notifications.
Locate Shift Browser under the list of apps.
Ensure notifications are set to On.
How to manage notifications for apps
Shift makes it easy to control alerts for every tool in your sidebar. Since each app lives inside your Space as a native integration, you can set unique rules for each one.
Click the gear icon
to open Quick Settings.
Click the Advanced Settings button at the bottom of the drawer.
Select Privacy & Security from the sidebar on the left.
Click on Site Settings.
Find the Permissions section and click Notifications.
Choose to change default settings for the whole browser or edit a specific app.
Click the arrow icon next to an app to see its full list of preferences.
Toggle Notifications to Allow or Block.
Toggle Sounds to Allow or Block.
