You can install Shift Browser on any Mac running macOS 11 Big Sur or newer. To ensure the best experience, we recommend using a computer with at least 8GB of RAM. Follow the steps below to download the installer and move Shift to your Applications folder to get started.
Check your Mac system requirements
Before you download Shift, make sure your hardware is ready. Shift is built on Chromium, which means it needs specific system power to run at its best.
To check your specs:
Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen.
Select About this Mac.
Look for your Memory to see your RAM and your macOS version.
Shift is designed for desktop productivity. Because of this, it doesn't support Chrome OS, tablets, mobile devices, or laptops in "tablet" mode. For more details, you can review the Chrome browser system requirements here.
How to download and install Shift Browser
Ready to go? Follow these instructions to set up Shift on your machine.
Download the installer directly from Shift's website.
Open your Downloads folder once the file finishes saving.
Double-click the Shift file to open the installer window.
Drag the Shift icon onto the Applications folder icon in that window.
Open your Applications folder, find Shift, and double-click it to launch your new browser.
Once you open Shift, you can start building your perfect setup by adding your favorite email accounts and apps to the sidebar.
