The Maps app in Shift helps you find locations, calculate travel directions, and explore geographic areas seamlessly without leaving your browser workspace. You can quickly look up coordinates, search for local businesses, or plan your daily commute right from your active panel.

How to Open the Maps App

1. Launch Shift on your computer.

2. Locate and click the Maps icon on your sidebar layout to open the application pane.

Basic Features and Usage Tips

Once the Maps app is active inside your Shift panel, you can use standard interactive navigation tools to manage your logistics:

• Searching Locations: Click into the search bar at the top of the Map pane, type an address, business name, or city, and press Enter.

• Getting Directions: Click the Directions button, enter your starting point and destination, and select your preferred method of transit (Driving, Walking, Cycling, or Public Transportation).

• Workspace Integration: Because the app remains open in your sidebar or dedicated Space, you can easily copy addresses from your integrated emails or calendar invites and paste them directly into the map view.

The Maps App offers multiple Map platforms for you to choose from:

• Google Maps
• Bing Maps
• Apple Maps
• MapQuest
• OpenStreetMap
• Waze
• TomTom

Search for a Place

1. Locate the search input box at the top of the map interface.

2. Type the name, business title, or specific street address of the place you want to find.

3. Press Enter on your keyboard. The map will instantly center on and highlight the location you searched for.

Explore the Map

• Zooming: Use the + (plus) and - (minus) buttons located on the screen to zoom closer into street views or pull back for a wider city layout.

• Panning: Click and hold your mouse button down, then drag the map in any direction to look around and explore neighboring areas.

Get Directions

1. Click the Directions button inside the app interface.

2. In the From input box, type your desired starting location.

3. In the To input box, type the address or destination where you want to go.

4. The map will automatically calculate and display the best route. You can customize your navigation by selecting your preferred mode of travel from the menu options:

   • By car

   • By walking

   • By bike
