All about app shortcuts

  • Updated

App Shortcuts in Shift Browser let you access the same app instance across multiple Spaces, keeping your workspace organized without duplicating accounts. You can easily configure these shortcuts during setup or edit existing apps to appear wherever you need them. This feature helps you navigate your most-used tools efficiently.

How App Shortcuts work in Shift Browser

Think of App Shortcuts as a bridge for your apps. Instead of adding the same tool repeatedly, Shift lets you place a shortcut in any Space. Apps with shortcuts stay synced across all your Spaces and windows. It's a great way to keep your setup clean while ensuring your tools are always within reach.

How to add an App Shortcut in a new Workspace

If you’ve just created a new Space, you might notice that your apps, set for “All” Spaces, do not automatically appear. To add the app shortcut to this new Space, you will need to edit the app and reset it to “All”.

  1. Right-click on the existing app.
  2. Select "Edit App" from the options list.
  3. In the edit modal, select “All” or go to “Custom” and make sure all Spaces are selected, including the new one.
  4. Hit "Save" to confirm your changes.

You should now see the app in your new Space.
