Using Shift on multiple computers

You can use your Shift Browser account on as many Mac and Windows desktops as you like at no extra cost. Your Spaces, Apps, and settings sync automatically once you sign in to your existing account and turn on Sync. This ensures your workflow stays consistent no matter which device you use.

 

How to set up Shift Browser on another computer

Setting up your workspace on a new device is quick. You don't need to start from scratch or go through the onboarding process again.

  1. Download Shift from shift.com.

  2. Open Shift on your new computer.

  3. You can skip through the Onboarding process. 

  4. Click the Quick Settings gear icon Quick Settings.svg. 

  5. Click into Advanced Settings.

  6. On the Accounts & Preferences page make sure you Sign in.

  7. Turning Sync on will ensure your setup syncs between devices.

How to manage Sync settings

If your data isn't appearing, you should check your preferences. Follow these steps to ensure your data is moving between devices:

  1. Click the gear icon Quick Settings.svg to open the Quick Settings drawer.

  2. Click Advanced Settings at the bottom of the drawer.

  3. Select Accounts & Preferences from the left sidebar.

  4. Ensure the Sync toggle is turned ON.

What information will sync?

Shift keeps your most important tools ready for you. While most of your setup travels with you, some local data stays on your original machine for security.

  • Spaces & Apps: Your sidebar and native integrations sync perfectly.

  • Bookmarks: All saved links will be available.

  • Chrome Extensions: Your added extensions will carry over.

  • Autofill & History: Form data and browsing history stay consistent.

  • *Passwords & Payment Info: For your security, saved passwords and credit card details do not sync.

  • *Open Web Tabs: These don't sync automatically. You can find and reopen them manually by going to Quick Settings, then History.
