With Shift, you can log into multiple accounts for the same tool, app, or email service simultaneously. You no longer have to constantly log in and out to move between your personal, client, or corporate profiles.
How to Add Multiple Instances of the Same App
To connect multiple accounts for a single service, you simply need to add multiple "instances" of that app to your workspace.
Open Shift and look at your sidebar panel.
Click the plus sign (+) in the Spaces bar, or click the dedicated Add App icon (the grid icon).
Browse the application categories or use the search bar to locate the specific app you want to add.
Click Add to place the first instance in your workspace.
Repeat the process to add a second (or third) instance of that exact same application.
Click into each individual instance icon and log into your respective accounts.
Tips to Differentiate Accounts in Your Workspace
Once you have multiple instances of the same app active, use these customization features to ensure you never accidentally send a message or document from the wrong account:
Use Visual Placement: You can pin apps to your global sidebar or keep them isolated inside the top bar of specific Spaces. Arrange them wherever they best fit your workflow.
Assign Unique Colors: Open the Edit Application menu (which appears automatically when you first add an app, or can be accessed by right-clicking an existing app icon and selecting Edit App). Choose a distinct color ring for each profile instance.
Use Custom Labels: Give each instance a clear, unique name in the settings menu (e.g., "Personal Slack" vs. "Client Acme Slack"). When you hover your mouse over the app icon in your workspace, this custom label will instantly appear.
