All about Quick Settings

Looking to further customize your Shift browser? Or access various settings quickly? This article will walk you through a high-level overview of the Quick settings options available in Shift. 

How to access Quick Settings in Shift

  1. Locate "Quick Settings" marked by the gear icon Quick Settings.svg.
  2. The Quick Settings drawer will open.

 

What's in Quick Settings

From Quick Settings you can adjust several different settings quickly and easily without having to open the full range of settings. 

Turn Shift AI on and off easily by toggling AI Chat or Intelligent Omnibox. Click the slider icon View site information.svg beside the toggle to open more advanced settings for Shift AI. 

Manage tabs and windows quickly here: add a new tab, a new window, or open an incognito window. You can also find the keyboard shortcuts for these here. 

In Quick Settings, you can also access your extensions manager, password manager, browsing history, downloads, and bookmark manager. There's a quick link to Shift Support and the Shift Knowledge Base through the Support & Feedback option. You can also Print from here, search within a page, or set Shift as your default browser

Customizing Shift with Builder

You’ll also be able to personalize Shift’s appearance in Quick Settings. You can manage the browser's mode, theme, and customization editor here. 

  1. Click the gear icon Quick Settings.svg to open Quick Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the 'Personalization' section and select your preference:
    1. Mode: You can choose the browser's mode from Dark, Light, and System default.
    2. Theme: You can choose a color theme for the browser from the given options or select a custom color.
    3. Custom Layout: Open the Builder to select a new template or fully customize your interface. 

 

Hide your Bookmark bar

Need a bit more space on your screen? Open Quick Settings and toggle your bookmark bar off and on. 

  1. Click the gear icon Quick Settings.svg to open Quick Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the 'Bookmark bar' toggle and set on or off to show or hide your bookmark bar
