What are Spaces in Shift Browser

  • Updated

Spaces in Shift Browser are dedicated command centers that let you group apps, tools, and workflows into distinct areas. You can create a Space for any project or role and switch between them instantly. This keeps your work organized and helps you focus on one context at a time

What are Spaces

Think of a Space as a customized home for a specific part of your life. Whether it's for "Client Work," "Personal Planning," or "Marketing Research," each Space adapts to your needs. If you used Workspaces in older versions of Shift, you'll find that Spaces are much more flexible. They aren't tied to an email account, so anyone can use them to build any kind of workflow.

Key features of native Spaces

  • No email required: You don't need to link an email to start a Space. Use them for any idea or project.

  • Anchor Apps: You can choose a specific app to be the "anchor" or starting point for your Space. For example, you might anchor your project management tool so it's the first thing you see. Learn more about how to use Anchor Apps.

Personalize your Space layout

Shift's built to flex around you. You can change how each Space looks and feels at any time:

  • Manage your apps: Drag and drop the tools you need directly into your Space.

  • Update themes: Right-click any Space and select Edit Space to change its colors or switch between light and dark mode.

  • Reset icons: If you want to go back to basics, click Reset to default in the edit menu. This'll change the icon back to the first letter of your Space name.

Please note that some layout changes, like bar positions, apply to all of Shift. This keeps your overall browser experience stable while your projects stay organized.
