How to Import and Export Bookmarks in Shift Browser

You can import bookmarks from any supported browser directly into Shift Browser to keep your workflow seamless. We've designed the process to be fast so you can bring your favorite sites into your new custom layout without any friction.

Supported Browsers

Shift makes it easy to migrate from the tools you already use. You can import data from these browsers:

  • Chrome

  • Edge

  • Firefox

  • Brave

  • Opera

  • Vivaldi

  • Arc

If your current browser isn't on this list, don't worry. You can still bring your data over using an HTML file.

How to Import Bookmarks

Option 1: Import from a Supported Browser

  1. Fully close the browser you’re importing from.
  2. In Shift, click the gear icon Quick Settings.svg to open Quick Settings.
  3. Select Advanced Settings.
  4. Open the Accounts and Preferences tab.
  5. Next to Import Bookmarks and Settings, click Import.
  6. Choose your browser from the dropdown menu and confirm the import.

Option 2: Import from an HTML File

  1. In Shift, type chrome://bookmarks in the omnibox.
  2. Click the organize icon Options_3dots.svg (3-dot icon)
  3. Select Import Bookmarks.
  4. Locate and select your HTML file to import.

How to Rearrange Imported Bookmarks

Shift gives you total control over your layout. You can manage your bookmarks from the bar or the manager.

From the Bookmark Bar:

  1. Hover over the bookmark bar in Shift.
  2. Click and hold any bookmark or folder to drag and rearrange it.

From the Bookmark Manager:

  1. Right-click anywhere on the bookmark bar and select Bookmark Manager.
  2. On the manager page chrome://bookmarks Click and hold items to move them.

How to Export Bookmarks

If you need to move your bookmarks elsewhere, Shift lets you export them in seconds.

  1. Go to chrome://bookmarks in Shift.

  2. Click the organize icon (the three-dot menu) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Export Bookmarks.

  4. Save the HTML file to your device.

We recommend you store this file in a safe place and delete it once you've finished your transfer
