How to sign in and out of Shift Browser

  • Updated

You can sign in or out of Shift Browser through the Accounts and Preferences menu in your settings. Signing in lets you turn on Sync, which keeps your Spaces and apps ready on any computer you use. While you can use Shift without an account, signing in secures your custom setup.

Why you should sign in

When you sign in, you unlock the ability to sync your workflow. This means your carefully organized sidebar and apps follow you if you switch from a desktop to a laptop.

  • Syncing: This saves your Spaces, apps, and settings to the cloud so they're always ready.

  • Local Use: If you don't sign in, your preferences stay only on that specific computer.

  • Consistency: If you're coming from an older version of Shift, use the same Google or Microsoft account to keep your history.

Note: If you previously used Shift v9, you must sign in to the new Shift Browser using the same Google or Microsoft account that you used before using the SSO.

Warning: At this time, there are limitations in changing the email address associated with your Shift account. Please sign up with an email that won’t change. We’re actively working on a solution. If you need to change the email address associated with your Shift account, your Shift setup (Spaces, apps, preferences) will not carry over.
