What is a “bookmark bar per Space”?
We don't believe in a "one size fits all" bookmark bar. In Shift Browser, every Space is a fresh start. Each one has its own bar that lives right at the top of your window.
This helps you stay focused because you're only looking at the links you need right now. Here’s what makes this feature special:
Individual bars: Each Space has its own unique set of links.
No crossover: A bookmark you save in "Work" won't clutter your "Personal" Space.
Total freedom: You can edit or delete a bookmark in one Space without affecting any others.
How to manage your Space bookmarks
Managing your links is easy since Shift treats each Space like its own focused room. You're in total control of how you organize each workflow.
Switch Spaces: Click the Space icon in your sidebar to open a specific workflow.
Add your link: Click the star icon in the search bar or drag a site directly onto the bar.
Create folders: Right-click the bar to add folders. This is great for grouping projects or daily habits.
Move links: If you need a link in a different Space, just copy the URL and paste it into the new one.
If you don't see your bar, it's likely just hidden. You can fix this quickly. Open Quick Settings and click "Build your Browser" to toggle your bars on or off.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have a global bookmark bar?
Shift doesn't use a global bar. We've found that keeping links separate per Space helps our users stay in a "deep work" flow. It prevents you from getting distracted by personal links while you're trying to finish a project.
Can I duplicate bookmarks across Spaces?
While Shift keeps bars separate by default, you can use the Bookmark Manager to move things quickly. Open the Bookmark Manager in your one Space, copy the folder or links you want, then go to another Space within the Bookmarks Manager and paste them in.
What happens if I delete a Space?
When you delete a Space, you also delete the bookmark bar attached to it. If you have links you want to save, make sure to move them first. You can also learn how to import and Export Bookmarks in Shift

- Make sure you're viewing the correct Space

- Click on the Bookmarks Bar and select Bookmarks Manager from the options.
