Have a PDF that’s a bit too large? You can make it smaller by using the Shift PDF app’s compress feature. Follow the steps below to compress your PDF files.
- Open Shift: Launch the Shift application on your computer.
- Access the PDF App: Navigate to the PDF app within Shift. If you haven’t added the PDF app yet, click here to add it to your Shift browser.
- Navigate to the Compress section of the app.
- Upload your PDF: Drag and drop the PDF into the highlighted area or click “Choose a file” to select your PDF to compress.
- Select a compression level that suits your needs:
- Low (large size, best quality)
- Medium (medium size, good quality)
- High (smaller size, lower quality)
- Extreme (smallest size, lowest quality)
- Then click the “Compress” button to start the compression process
- Download or Compare Results (or Cancel if you want to start over)
- Download Compressed File: Click to download the compressed file to your computer.
- Compare Results: Click to view a comparison between the original and compressed versions of your PDF.
- Comparison View:
- This feature allows you to see the original and compressed versions side by side.
- You can drag the middle bar to compare the quality and size differences between the two versions.
- Options in Comparison View:
- Go Back: Return to the previous page to select a different file or adjust compression settings.
- Download Compressed File: Download the compressed version of the PDF.
