If you've hidden your apps, toolbars, or other browser controls, you can restore them using the Quick Access Bar. Move your mouse to the top of the Shift Browser window to reveal it, then open the Builder or Quick Settings to restore your layout.
Restore your browser layout
If your browser appears empty, don't worry. The Quick Access Bar remains available even when you've hidden your controls.
To restore your layout:
- Move your cursor to the top of the Shift Browser window.
- Click the Quick Access Bar when it appears.
- Select the Quick Settings (gear) icon.
- Click Build your Browser to open the Builder.
- Drag and drop your apps, sidebars, and other browser controls back into your layout.
Use keyboard shortcuts
If you prefer a minimal browser layout, you can still access common features with keyboard shortcuts.
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Open Quick Settings | Cmd/Ctrl + , |
| Focus the address bar | Cmd/Ctrl + L |
| Show or hide the sidebar | Cmd/Ctrl + S |
For more keyboard shortcuts, see Shift’s keyboard shortcuts
Keep Quick Settings accessible
If you frequently customize your layout, consider keeping the Quick Settings icon visible so it's easy to make future changes.
