Download settings control how and where files are saved when you download something from Shift. They help you manage your files efficiently and customize your experience based on your workflow.
How to find Download Settings
Follow these steps to open the Download settings:
- Click the Settings icon

- Click Advanced Settings at the bottom of the menu.
- On the left side, you’ll see a list of setting categories. Click Downloads.
- You are now in the Download settings!
What You’ll Find in Download Settings
Inside the Download settings, you’ll see different sections that let you adjust how Shift processes downloads.
- Location – Change where files download to. Click ‘Change’ and select the folder into which you’d like downloads to appear. Click ‘Select Folder’ to save your changes and close the popup.
- Ask where to save each file before downloading – Toggle ON if you’d like Shift to ask where you’d like to save your downloaded files each time.
- Show downloads when they’re done – Toggle ON if you’d like Shift to display your download once the download is complete. Completed downloads will appear in a small modal that pops out from the top-right of the window.
